Your Exchange & Completion Team are here to support you in the final steps of your sale now that the buyer’s enquiries have been received and responded to and the buyer is satisfied that all enquiries are sufficiently resolved.

Your Exchange and Completions Team’s role is to send you the final Contract for your signature, preparing your file for exchange and completion, contacting the parties involved in the chain of transaction, agreeing the exchange and completion dates and lastly, coordinating with the buyer’s solicitors and your estate agent for completion to take place. All these final steps will be explained within the next few blogs.

  • Your Exchange and Completions Team will be in touch within three working days to introduce themselves and answer any questions that you might have about the next stages.

  • You are all caught up at this stage, but ensure you keep an eye out for your phone and emails to meet your Exchange and Completions Team and ask any questions you may have in the final stage of your sale.

The final stage of your sale will lead to the official sale of your property which we have broken down into bite size steps. But firstly, it is important to understand what exchange and completion means in relation to your sale.

What is exchange?

Exchange is the point at which the sale becomes legally binding.

What is completion?

Completion is the point at which ownership of the property is transferred.

How long does exchange and completion take?

Exchange and Completion times will vary from case to case. Some transactions will exchange and complete on the same day; whereas others will have a window of 1-2 weeks between exchange and completion. On average, this stage takes between 3-4 weeks.
