What’s My Legacy? Remember A Charity Week 2026

What do you want to be remembered for? It’s not a question many of us sit down and answer, yet it’s one worth asking.

Your legacy is not just money or a gift you leave behind. It is built from memories with the people you love. It also reflects the causes you support and the roles you fill in your community. Your passions help shape who you are.

For many of us, a Will is where these threads finally come together: a chance to look after the people closest to us, while also leaving something meaningful behind for the good causes that matter most.

In this blog, we will explore what Remember A Charity Week is. We will explain how legacy giving works in practice. We will also show how our Wills and Probate team can help. They can help you answer the question, “what is my legacy?”

What Is Remember A Charity Week 2026?

Remember A Charity Week runs from 7–13 September 2026, and this year the campaign is asking a simple but powerful question: What’s my legacy?

This Remember A Charity Week supports close to 200 charities to spark a national conversation around the question: “What’s my legacy?” The campaign invites people to think about how they want to be remembered, and the part they can play in shaping a positive, lasting impact.

How Does Remember A Charity Work?

Remember A Charity is a consortium of 200 UK charities who work together to grow legacy giving, working with professional advisers, partners and Government to make legacy giving a natural, well-understood part of estate planning. Rather than asking people to choose between their family and a good cause, the campaign shows how a Will can provide for both, often through a small percentage of an estate, once loved ones have already been looked after.

What Does Remember A Charity’s Director Say About This Year’s Campaign?

Rob Cope, Director of Remember A Charity, explained why this year’s theme matters:

“This Remember A Charity Week, we’re opening up discussion about what people want their legacy to be, and encouraging people to reflect on the good causes that matter most to them.

More and more people across the UK are choosing to remember their favourite charities in their Will alongside gifts for their loved ones, and this is making a vital difference, helping to sustain crucial charitable services for the future. No matter how large or small, every gift has a real impact and helps charities continue their work for years to come.”

Why Does Lyons Bowe Support Remember A Charity Week?

We believe legacy giving deserves the same clarity, care and structure as every other part of your Will. Here’s what Jill Humphris, Charity Engagement Manager, had to say:

“This year’s Remember A Charity Week has, once again, given us a valuable opportunity to talk openly with clients about the difference a gift in their Will can make; and at Lyons Bowe, it’s a campaign we look forward to every year.

Our partnership with Remember A Charity, particularly during their annual campaign, provides us with valuable, evidence-based resources, timely statistics and insight-led reports that help us approach these conversations with greater confidence and understanding. Their practical guidance enables our advisers to talk about legacy giving sensitively and effectively, helping clients explore how their values can live through a charitable gift.”

What Is the Lyons Bowe Charity Will Scheme?

The Lyons Bowe Charity Will Scheme helps customers leave a gift to a UK charity in their Will. You get 50% off your Will-writing fee, one small way we make it easier to include the causes you care about, without it feeling like an added cost. To date, we’ve helped clients pledge over  £6.6 million to UK charities through their Wills during 2025, a figure we’re genuinely proud of.

How Can I Leave a Gift to Charity in My Will?

There are a few common ways to leave a gift in your Will: a fixed sum, a specific item, or a share of what remains once your loved ones have been provided for.

A conversation with your solicitor is the best place to start, so your wishes are recorded clearly and reflect exactly what you want your legacy to be. Learn more about how you can make a Will.
