About
Somerset Film
Somerset Film is an award-winning educational charity and film production organisation that uses creativity, digital media and filmmaking to inspire people, strengthen communities and tell stories that matter. Somerset Film empowers people of all ages and backgrounds to develop new skills, express themselves creatively and engage with their communities through film and digital arts.
Based at The Engine Room in Bridgwater, Somerset Film delivers a diverse range of projects spanning education, community engagement, cultural heritage, digital inclusion, professional film production and creative wellbeing. From supporting young filmmakers and artists to preserving local history through archive film, the charity creates opportunities for people to learn, connect and build confidence through creativity.
Somerset Film is particularly recognised for working with communities that may face barriers to participation, ensuring everyone has access to creative experiences regardless of age, ability or background. Through workshops, outreach programmes, artist residencies, festivals, exhibitions and collaborative partnerships, the charity helps people develop practical skills while celebrating local stories and culture.
